You do not want some items in the house to be visible. Ugly stuff that you prefer to store behind the door and bolt. For example, the vacuum cleaner or the washing machine. And some people even have that with the television. Another ugly device that you also want to hide from everyone is the printer. You only want to take this out when you need it, and then put it away as soon as possible. That is why we have listed ten great ideas for you with which you can store your ugly printer!
1. Extendable shelf
This idea comes from Anne Sage. The blogger, designer, and author lovingly transformed the second bedroom in her home into a beautiful office for her husband Ivan, a VP in the marketing department of a large corporation. She replaced all old furniture with custom solutions. Not only has a large bookcase been realized around the window – the desk is also completely custom-made. Of course, no ugly printer fits in such a beautiful office. That is why Anne had designed a special cabinet with a pull-out shelf under the desk, where the printer can be stored. Perfect!
2. Printer table
Are you looking for a practical place for the printer, but you don’t mind that the printer remains in sight? Then you can also look for a printer table. These are available in different types, sizes and colors. The printer table below is perfect for a small office, for example. You can place the printer on top of the table, and it also has handy compartments for storing, for example, printing paper and cartridges. Don’t you like having a stock of cartridges at home? Then you could opt for a print plan that can be canceled monthly. HP has HP Instant Ink, for example, where your printer sends a signal to HP when your ink is low. The new cartridges are then automatically delivered to your home. Handy, right?
3. At the desk
If you have a very large desk, you could put the printer on your desk too. Below you can see the beautiful home office of Holly Marder from Avenue Design Studio. By the large window, she has made a custom-made desk across the entire width, with drawer units and wooden trestles for table legs. The desk is three to four meters wide – enough space to place the printer there too. This also looks super nice, doesn’t it?
4. On a trolley
A trolley, a table with wheels at the bottom, can be used for various purposes at home. Many people use it in the kitchen as an extra work table, some use it as a minibar, so you can also use a trolley to store the printer. Below you can see the beautifully decorated office of designer Jeremiah Brent. He has opted for a stylish golden trolley with white wheels, on which the large black printer is placed. Nice!
5. In the bookcase
The great thing about a bookcase is that you can not only put books in it, but also a lot of other things. In this sturdy office, two vintage bookcases have been placed against the wall, and there in front of the desk. The bookcase has both closed chests of drawers and open shelves. The open shelves are mainly filled with decorative items, such as beautiful books, plants, an old record player, and much more. But printer is also placed in the bookcase. In this way you always have the printer at hand. Super practical!
6. Desk with shelf for printer
Don’t have room for a very wide desk that also offers space for the printer? Nowadays there are also many desks available with a special compartment or shelf where the printer can be placed in or on. The sturdy desk below with the industrial hairpin legs is a good example of this. Under the desktop you will find an extra shelf where the printer can be placed. Ideal!
7. On a wall shelf
Do you have a small office or a small workplace at home? Then it is good to use the height of the walls. That way you don’t need extra floor space. For example, hang wall shelves above your desk. Ideal for storing books, folders… and the printer!
8. Printer box
Do you think the printer is really ugly, and are you looking for a solution where the printer can really be hidden behind the door and bolt? Then the solution below might be nice for you. Alicia from Thriftyandchic.com has her printer in the living room. Because she doesn’t want the printer in sight, she designed and made a special printer box that she can use to store the printer in a fun way. It is a wooden box with a large flap at the front, which you can easily open and close. Do you like it? Click here for the manual.
9. In wicker basket
We also like this idea, conceived by Brooke Giannetti. Brooke is a California-based interior designer, store owner, and blogger. And she is a big fan of the rural classic interior style. She used a large woven wicker basket to store the printer in her lovely home office. By placing the basket on its side, you also have a kind of printer box with a flap at the front. Simple, but super fun!
10. In a chest of drawers
We love IKEA hacks. We found this IKEA hack at Pbjstories.com. Pamela uses the large IKEA Hemnes chest of drawers as a TV unit in her living room. The large lower tray on the left is used for storing the printer. She has adapted the drawer front to a flap door. That way she can leave the printer in the drawer while printing. Super fun and creative!
