A modern bathroom is one of the popular living requirements nowadays. This often refers to two aspects. The modern conveniences are the first aspect. A standard modern bathroom design contains a walk-in shower , bathroom furniture, a sink, a design radiator, a mirror, a toilet. Preferably, a separate bath and an extra washbasin (double washbasins) are added. And the second aspect, a modern bathroom has to do with style. A modern bathroom design can generally be described with clean lines, a minimalist look and neutral colors. But there can still be many differences. We have found some super beautiful and fun inspiration examples, with modern bathroom ideas and useful tips . Good luck and have fun designing your modern dream bathroom!
1. Gray tiles, wood and marble
This modern bathroom was designed by the award-winning design firm Minosa. In addition to modern conveniences, the residents also wanted a sleek modern bathroom, without it feeling cold. Designer and director of Minosa Simona Castagna had made a design where the use of materials plays an important role. The large part of the floor and walls are tiled with large square gray tiles, with which the foundation is laid. These modern tiles are combined with marble tiles for the part where the free-standing bath and walk-in shower are decorated. You can see it on the floor as well as on the walls. The wooden accents give the bathroom a warm appearance, which is reflected in the wood-look wall tiles in the walk-in shower and the wooden worktop above the white floating bathroom furniture.
2. Concrete look tiles and leather wall coverings
The colors used in this modern bathroom are very similar to the above design. Yet this is a completely different bathroom. The space is narrow, but quite long. This made it possible to create a layout in which the sink, toilet and spacious walk-in shower are arranged next to each other. You will find sturdy, large concrete-look tiles on both the floor and the walls. There is one wall that has been given a different finish. It is completely covered with brown leather wall coverings. The leather not only looks beautiful and luxurious, but the color also gives the bathroom a warm touch.
3. White, wood and black
The color brown can therefore give a room a lot of atmosphere and warmth. Brown also plays an important role in this modern bathroom design, which is reflected in a beautiful sleek built-in cupboard made of oak. It was designed by the architects Emil Dervish and Evgeniy Bulatniko as part of a modern apartment located in the Norwegian city of Trondheim. The basis with the small square white wall and floor tiles is very simple. But thanks to the wooden built-in cupboard, the sleek floating bathroom cabinet, which is also made to measure, and the impressive glass shower wall and door with the black steel frame, it has become a super beautiful modern design bathroom.
4. Modern dream bathroom
This modern bathroom comes very close to the ideal dream bathroom. Architectural firm Megowan Architectural has designed the Two Angle house in Australia, a modern luxury villa. And of course, a modern luxury villa also includes a luxurious modern bathroom. The design has all the modern conveniences you would expect from a dream bathroom. A spacious walk-in shower, a modern freestanding bath with breathtaking views, a custom bathroom cabinet with double sinks and a huge walk-in closet. A speckled terrazzo floor is combined with sleek white walls. And through sturdy harmonica doors you even have access to the balcony here.
5. Modern chic
The design of this modern chic bathroom was realized by architect Neil Dusheiko. The special thing is that this is his own bathroom in his own house in North London, where he lives with his family. The characteristic Victorian home has been completely rebuilt and modernized. And of course the bathroom has also been completely renovated. It is not a very large bathroom, but thanks to a practical layout, it was still possible to have both a large bath by the window and a separate walk-in shower room. In between you will find the toilet and the bathroom furniture with sink. Gray floor tiles are combined with small marble hexagon tiles, while the ceiling is covered with wooden cladding. They complemented this and made it chic with black and gold details.
6. Unique design with natural tones
What a great design interior and architecture firm Need Design has created for a project from Ukraine. They have designed and furnished a modern apartment with a living area of 78m2, characterized by beautiful soothing natural tones. You can also find these colors in the bathroom design. Both the floor and the walls have been given a very special and light finish. This brings out the large wall near the walk-in shower very nicely, which is tiled with brown-yellow scales tiles. The special white bathroom furniture fits exactly between the glass shower enclosure and the wall. The base is made of white steel, combined with a sleek white cabinet with a marble worktop and sink. And on the wall above is a beautiful large mirror.
7. Luxurious bathroom en suite
This modern bathroom is so large that you wouldn’t say it is an en-suite bathroom. It is even larger than the adjoining bedroom, which is separated from the bathroom by a custom glass wall. Brazilian interior and architect studio Davidito realized the design, characterized by clean lines and, above all, a lot of luxury. A modern freestanding bath has been placed right next to the bedroom, in front of the large window, where you can enjoy the beautiful view. In the real bathroom area you will find the modern wooden bathroom furniture with double sink and a large wall mirror. You don’t see it in this picture, but on the far right a mega walk-in shower with glass shower walls has been created.
8. Small black and white
We are switching from a mega large luxury bathroom to a super small bathroom. Small bathrooms can of course also be very beautiful and modern. This modern small bathroom is a very nice example of this. To make the space appear larger, both the walls and the floor are fully tiled with small white mosaic tiles. And the door on the inside is actually one big mirror. The walk-in shower is arranged opposite the bathroom cabinet, while the toilet is in between. The black details have created a cool contrast, such as the black toilet, the black shower, the black bar of the shower curtain and the black towel rack.
9. Minimalist tough
So you can give a bathroom a minimalist look by using the same tiles for both the floor and the walls. That’s what the designers at MIM Design did for the design of this beautiful modern bathroom. Both the floor and the walls are fully tiled with large, sturdy gray tiles. They have complemented this with black accents, a warm wooden bathroom cabinet and some golden details. In addition to a spacious walk-in shower, the bathroom also has a white oval bath and double sinks. What else do you want?!
10. Concrete plaster
At design agency Authentic Interior we found this beautiful modern bathroom. Interior architect Aida Šniraitė was commissioned to design and furnish a small apartment of only 50m2. The design can be described as tough modern, which is partly due to the tough gray concrete plaster on the floor and walls. The spacious walk-in shower is separated from the toilet by a custom-made glass shower wall up to the ceiling . And next to the toilet you will find a very beautiful modern bathroom cabinet made of wood, on which a granite sink has been placed. The recessed spotlights in the ceiling and the round mirror with lighting give the bathroom an even more modern look.
11. Modern design and modern amenities
This spacious bathroom is furnished with all the amenities you could wish for. The walk-in shower and toilet are located opposite each other. Both are separated from the bathroom furniture with double sinks and the freestanding bath by a partition, consisting of a half-tiled wall and a half-glass wall. The bathroom is already spacious, but it seems even more spacious due to the fully custom-made mirror wall above the sinks. What is also special is that there is a large window, right in front of the bath. The light is super nice, and by hanging curtains in front of it, you can ensure that you have enough privacy in the bathroom.
12. Sleek modern
When you think of a modern bathroom, you usually think of tiles, but there are many more options for both the floor and the walls. In this modern bathroom, designed by interior and architect studio thirty eight, they have opted for floor tiles, but the walls are covered with sleek wall panels instead of wall tiles. The wall panels not only give the bathroom a super sleek look, but the terracotta color is also very special. And not only the walls are covered with it, the bath and bathroom furniture are also covered with the same material. This has created a sleek, uniform atmosphere in this design.
13. Geometric tiles
When you think of tiles for a modern bathroom, you may quickly think of smooth tiles, although it does not always have to be the case. For this bathroom, Studio Cicchetti Viscardi, for example, used very nice geometric tiles for the floor. The floor tiles in the colors white, black, gray and blue provide a fun playful touch. By plastering the large walls tightly and painting them white, the bathroom does not become too busy. The walls in the walk-in shower are tiled, because of the humidity, but they opted for neutral white wall tiles.
14. Modern vintage
You can also combine a modern bathroom with a different style. That’s what interior designers Stefania Micotti did, for the design of a bathroom in a cool loft apartment in Milan. The modern bathroom has a super sleek finish with nice gray floor tiles and simple white wall tiles. The spacious modern walk-in shower with shower tray and rain shower is installed exactly under the large skylight. The wooden bathroom furniture, the matching mirror and chair also give this modern bathroom a cool vintage touch.
15. Narrow bathroom with wood-look tiles
Wood provides warmth and atmosphere in the interior. However, due to the humidity in a bathroom, wood floors and wood wall coverings are often discouraged. Wood look tiles can be the ideal solution. Today, wood-look tiles are almost indistinguishable from real wooden planks. You can see that very nicely in this modern bathroom, designed by Italian architect Davide Tarricone. The floor is tiled with beautiful wood-look tiles, just like the wall in the walk-in shower. As it is a narrow bathroom, the toilet, bidet and bathroom cabinet with washbasin are mounted on one wall. On the other wall you will find two very funny designer radiators, which can also be used as a towel rack.
16. Creative layout
The shape of the bathroom can make it a challenge to organize and furnish it practically. The bathroom below has a very special geometric shape with a number of sloping walls. As a result, architect studio Mila Design had to get to work creatively with the layout. On one side is the walk-in shower and on the other you will find the bath, placed on a raised podium, which is tiled with wood-look tiles. In between you will find the large wall, where a custom bathroom cabinet has been placed, with a lot of cupboard space, double sinks and a custom wall mirror.
17. Minimalist designer bathroom
We have already shown a bathroom above, whose floor and walls are covered with sturdy concrete plaster. This bathroom also plays the leading role, but this bathroom still has a completely different look. The designers FGR Architects have opted for a warmer brown-gray shade. This gives the bathroom a slightly softer appearance. They have combined this with modern elements such as the black floating bathroom cabinet with marble top, matching black faucet and towel rack, and a modern freestanding bath.
18. Black and pink
Anyone who thinks pink is a women’s color should check out this modern bathroom designed by Denis Krasikov and Cartelle Design. Although pink is the most important color in this design, it has nevertheless become a very cool bathroom. White wall tiles are interspersed with super nice pink wall tiles, and combined with a dark gray tile floor. The black details also match perfectly, such as the modern black toilet and the black designer radiator in the spacious walk-in shower.
19. Black and marble
This mainly black bathroom is super modern, but thanks to the use of marble it has also become very chic. This combination was conceived by Oooox, a Czech interior and architect studio, which realized the design of this bathroom. The bathroom is largely black, with black floor tiles, black wall tiles, a sleek black built-in cupboard, a black design radiator, black taps and a black shower. But some parts are also covered with Italian Carrara white marble wall tiles. And that’s how a cool black bathroom has also become very chic.
We have already seen that a modern bathroom can certainly have color, such as in the black-pink bathroom designed by Denis Krasikov and Cartelle Design. Interior design agency 23 Bassi has even gone a step further with this bathroom design, with a bright yellow ceiling and bright yellow walls. They have neutralized this a bit with the special white relief wall tiles. They even opted for a modern high-gloss green bathroom cabinet. At the beginning of the bathroom you will find a sleek custom-made cupboard on the left, in which, among other things, the washing machine is stored. Normally, you prefer not to use the washing machine in the bathroom, but it is a lot less bad this way.
21. Combine wall coverings
When it comes to wall coverings in the bathroom, most people go for one solution. Only wall tiles or only concrete plaster. But it can also be very nice to combine multiple variants with each other. Architectural firm DAHA has opted for no less than three different forms of wall coverings for the design of this sturdy modern bathroom. The walls in the walk-in shower are tiled with small white wall tiles, the wall at the freestanding bath is covered with sturdy large concrete tiles, while the wall at the sinks is covered with warm wooden wall coverings. Three completely different forms of wallcovering that complement each other beautifully in a modern bathroom design. The speckled floor tiles are also very cool.
23. White bathroom
White tiles are super popular no matter the bathroom style. Architects Amir and Chen Navon designed this modern white bathroom in the Bauhaus era apartment. Both the floor and the walls are tiled with white tiles. And with modern black objects, they have created a cool contrast. The sleek black floating bathroom furniture, the black tap that is mounted tightly in the wall mirror, the black decorative ladder that has been used as a towel rack and the black wall rack above the freestanding bathroom.
24. Luxurious and warm
We found this bathroom design in the portfolio of the Ukrainian design agency Z.Design architecture. A super sleek and modern bathroom with a warm luxurious look. The designers have opted for a sleek light beige cast floor, combined with tightly plastered and taupe painted walls in the ‘dry’ part of the bathroom, and elegant wall tiles in the ‘wet’ part. These two parts are separated from each other by means of a blinded glass sliding wall. In addition to the modern amenities, the lighting also creates a very warm and luxurious atmosphere in this bathroom. In addition to the luxurious recessed spotlights in the ceiling, the wall mirror is also equipped with lighting.
25. Pattern tiles
We think this bathroom is one of the most beautiful bathrooms in this list, even though it is a fairly small bathroom. It is furnished with modern conveniences, such as a spacious walk-in shower, plenty of storage space and a modern sink. Beautiful materials have been used, such as the wood for the bathroom furniture and the golden taps and shower. And the floor is also very nice, which is tiled with nice white blue pattern tiles. It was designed by the interior designers of Fouché Architects, who completely renovated a 1946 villa in Australia.
