If you want to turn an old barn into a tasteful and functional living space with respect for the history and the environment, you have to improvise. With a certain idea, a sense of detail and logical progress according to specific needs, you always achieve the desired result. Boooox project by the architectural firm Oooox is the result of the transformation of the old barn into a super beautiful dream home. It is located in the city of Liberec in the Czech Republic. The essence of the project consists on the one hand of the black that is used for the facade of the house, and on the other hand, the white that can be found in the interior.
White Scandinavian interior with cool black details
Over a period of two years, the architects have created a unique home. The house is characterized by a mix of textures and industrial elements. In addition, it is also clear that they are a fan of Scandinavian design. The original wooden facade of the former farm has been completely restored and painted black. They have combined this with a black roof and sturdy black steel frames. The house is located on a large hill, giving you a super beautiful mountainous view. To be able to enjoy that view inside the house, large panoramic views have been realized on the ground floor.
Black and white interior
On the ground floor you will find the living space, with the living room, open kitchen and dining area. The bathroom is also located on the ground floor, which can be closed by means of a suitable white sliding door in farmhouse style. Everywhere you come across both black and white furniture and accessories, such as the white dining table and the white industrial dining room chairs. We also opted for a modern white kitchen, which is finished with an oak top, white tap and a sleek plastered white kitchen back wall. The compact white extractor hood has a high design content, just like the black Jielde wall lamps. And the white retro refrigerator from SMEG also fits very nicely.
Open loft bedrooms connected by a walkway
You can walk to the top floor via a sturdy open staircase. The attic used to be used as a hayloft, but is now furnished with two open bedrooms and accompanying walk-in closets. The original ceiling with the gabled roof and the white painted wooden beams give the room a lot of atmosphere and character. The walls and wooden floor are also painted white. The two bedrooms are connected by a walkway. This walkway is the only thing black on this floor.
