Last year was the year of renovation for Alex. They have done so much at home after years of saving. Not only have they realized an extension to the side of the house, they have also added two floors, completely renovated the kitchen and dining room, created a veranda at the front, tackled the front garden, and thus also completely renovated the backyard. But the result is absolutely impressive.

This is what the garden looked like at first:

If you look at the before & after photos, you hardly recognize the garden. It now feels like a completely different garden. The garden is not huge, but because it is now super tightly finished, it feels a lot more spacious. Now they have the space to sit outside with the family on the terrace, they can eat outside, they chill outside. In short, it has become a great garden.

And so it became:

Black fences and artificial grass

First, the base of the garden was prepared. After making the garden ‘shell’, new black fences were placed around the garden and a new floor was laid. They had long ago decided to go for artificial turf . They like the green of grass, but they just don’t feel like it and don’t have the time to maintain the grass. Artificial grass is therefore the ideal solution, combined with sleek gray concrete tiles. It has become a wonderful, safe place where the children can play freely and happily. She loves to open the large patio doors so that the children can walk out by themselves. In this way, the new garden is used as an extension of the house.

Fixed low planters have been realized along the fences, which she has planted with mainly artificial plants from IKEA.

Raised terrace with composite planks

Something Alex always wanted in her garden is a terrace where she can chill. She built the terrace on the right side of the garden, against the black fences. This has also been given a maintenance-friendly character, thanks to the composite planks. The terrace is furnished with a beautiful rattan lounge set, a fire pit table and a high table.

She has also thought about storage space. In addition to a shelter for the storage of the firewood in front of the fireplace, you will also find a small shed and a garden house in the garden.
